UOK’s RPTT Directorate held two days capacity building training on scientific paper writing and publication for the university’s academic and research staff. This was implemented as part of UOK’s efforts to increase the capacity of its staff in the many competencies needed of them. At the top of these competencies is the ability to write and publish scientific papers. During these two days, the trainers covered a wide range of academic writing and publication-related subjects including: writing a publishable manuscript, identifying reputable journals, submission, editorial review process and follow up, promotion of published papers and handling rejected papers.
Additionally, in his concluding remarks, UOK’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research Ass. Prof. Abdisalan Abdullahi emphasized the importance of scientific writing and publication for the academic staff and urged the trainees to use the opportunity and put it to use in their future endeavors. Lastly, the trainers and the participants were certified by the ARVP.
